The New York Times June 7, 1981, Sunday, Late City Final Edition 5 Teachers Dismissed in 1950's Ruled Eligible for Reinstatement The father of the actor Alan Arkin, dismissed as a school teacher in the early 1950's for refusing to say whether he belonged to the Communist Party, should have been reinstated, a judge has ruled. David Arkin, who worked as a poet and writer after he was dismissed 28 years ago, died last October at the age of 73. However, the May 27 ruling by Superior Judge Vernon G. Foster could mean jobs or back pay for five of Mr. Arkin's colleagues who were dismissed in 1952 and 1953. The other teachers are Frances Eisenberg, 75, Minna Cooper, 67, June Sirell, 59, Abraham Minkus, 67, and Serril Gerber, 69.
